Mike's Mountain Flying is owned and operated by Mike Schwartz
of Missoula, Montana. I grew up here and have been flying over
and through the mountains for a while so let's just go with 35+
years. I have over 4,000 hrs. of accident free time in the Western
U.S., Alaska, and British Columbia.
Over the years this time was gained by providing primary/advanced flight instruction, Part 135 operations in Alaska/the North, low level flights for the Montana Dept. of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, low/high altitude photo mapping missions, and fire support for the U.S. Forest Service. I have been fortunate to fly with and learn from some of the finest mountain pilots in the area. This remains an ongoing adventure that I thoroughly enjoy.
Whether you fly in the plains of Nebraska or high density airspace of the East the experience you gain here will be worthwhile. The effects of density altitude, local winds, proper aircraft loading, and airstrip conditions will be evident; and the use of basic navigational and stick and rudder skills will be relevant to whatever equipment you may be flying. I take a very conservative approach to planning and executing our flights. This means they will not only be completed safely, but also insure that your level of fun is at a maximum.
Learn from the mistakes of others. You won’t live long enough to make all
of them yourself
